Professional Standard

My work

Explanation

In this example of the learning outcome Professional Standard, I will be showing my communication with the client and the target group for the project, Branding. Additionally, I will also show the planning.

Action

I contacted the client of my group project to set up a meeting to discuss our project.

I went back and forth with the client for a while until we could find a date when both the group and the client were available.

This is where I set up the Teams meeting. Then we had the meeting and we received feedback.

A week later I contacted the client again.

Again we discussed a date for a meeting.

Then we had the meeting and received feedback again.

For the planning, I made a Trello board.

The planning I created wasn't highly detailed, but it provided enough guidance to help the group stay on track with the project.

My communication with the target group went in the form of a survey. From this survey, we also received a bunch of answers.

I made this survey and I tried to get information about what colors we should use for our branding and some other preferences that the target audience might have.

Feedback

The feedback I received from one of my group members was that they liked that I made a Trello board even though it wasn't that detailed. It was nice to see the deliverables written down.

Reflection

For the communication part, I think I did my best to communicate with the client clearly and politely. The one thing that went wrong was that I planned the meeting on the wrong day, I put it on Thursday instead of Tuesday. This almost resulted in a cancellation of the meeting but I managed, with the client, to plan around a bit and have the meeting anyway. In the future, I will make sure to double-check to make sure that I plan the meeting correctly.

For the planning part, despite not creating detailed plans in Trello, I made it a priority to have daily discussions with my group members to outline our plans for the day or week. I took on the primary responsibility for the planning, and I was happy to do so. It seemed that my group members looked to me for the planning because I willingly took on that role and ensured that our plans were mostly well-organized and that we communicated effectively. In the future, however, I do plan on creating a more descriptive planning in Trello, this is because it is nice to have something 'physical' to look back on.

For the "communication with the target audience" part, I believe I could have approached it differently. I think I should have conducted at least 2 additional follow-up surveys to gain a better understanding of the target audience. In the future, I plan on investing more effort into understanding our audience, whether that involves creating more surveys or conducting additional research.
