Fix UX

Project Explanation

This four-week project involved redesigning a health insurance website. After analyzing three websites, we selected one to improve, conducted research, and created a prototype. The project was completed by me and five teammates.

Analysis

We analysed three websites through user testing and heuristic evaluation to identify strengths and weaknesses. This helped us choose a website to redesign and set the foundation for the project.

What I Did:

  • Created the document layout.
  • Developed the research setup.
  • Analysed the second website.
  • Helped validate the "Why not Zilvere Kruis" choice.

Find a more descriptive analysis in this document.

Research

We created research questions to guide our redesign, focusing on user needs and effective web design practices. After collecting individual research questions from the group, I combined them into three final, focused questions. This research ensured informed decisions and addressed the challenges identified in the analysis phase.

What I Did:

  • Asked the group to create three research questions each.
  • Combined everyone's suggestions into three final research questions.
  • Created the document and its layout.
  • Set up the research approach.
  • Researched and summarized the first research question.
  • Created the requirements/MoSCoW list.
  • Documented CZ's needs.
  • Compiled everyone's sources into a single APA-formatted list.

Here is the full research document.

Prototype

We designed a prototype to visualize improvements, test ideas, and gather feedback.

What I Did:

  • Designed the header and dropdown basket.
  • Refined spacing, fonts, and layout.
  • Helped redesign "Calculate Your Premium" pages.
  • Made the English prototype interactive.

User testing

I conducted user tests after the project to gather feedback and validate design changes. These tests revealed usability issues and confirmed which improvements were effective.

Here is the user test document.

Presentation

Here is the first PowerPoint we did. This was a sprint demo and we got to show the progress we made so far.

For this first presentation, I helped make the text and layout. I also talked about a part of the presentation but I can't remember which part.

Here is the final presentation we did.

For this final presentation, I again helped with the text and layout. For the presenting part, I talked about the research findings.

Reflection

I did well in research organization but struggled with time management, leading to limited time for user testing and prototype iterations. In the future, I'll improve my planning to avoid this issue.
