(A lot of things)

Explanation

You are aware of your own strengths and weaknesses, both in the field of ICT and in your personal development. You choose actions in line with your core values to promote your personal growth and develop your learning atitude.

In this example of personal leadership, I'll showcase small projects outside school that helped me expand my skills and might improve my future job prospects. Besides this, I will show some other points for this learning outcome.

Blender

For the group project, I thought it would be cool to make a 3D object in Blender of a coin. I made this purely experimental, but it helped improve my blender skills a bit further.

It's a simple object, but I learned how to give it a metallic look and add a border to the coin. While it was a test, the final result gave me more confidence in my ability to handle materials and modifiers. It may not be perfect, but it was a meaningful step in building my Blender skillset.

In class, we also did some exercises using Blender animations. This was very cool and interesting to learn.

During these exercises, I got to practice with animations, and that was very interesting to me.

Coding

To get better at coding, specifically JS, I got the advice to do the 30-day vanilla JS coding challenge from JavaScript 30.

I did this because my skills in JS are very limited, and I wish to change this.

The first exercise of the course was creating a drum kit. It used little JavaScript, but it did try to teach me the beginnings of how to code. I would have found the exercise hard to do if I had done it without the video because JS feels so foreign to me, but it is a stepping stone to understanding it better.

Reflection

Code reflection

I've made my first steps in learning JavaScript through practical exercises, and while it's still a challenge, I can already see patterns starting to make more sense. I'm beginning to build a foundation I can grow from, and I'm committed to continuing with it, even if it feels uncomfortable at times. If I had to do similar exercises completely on my own or from memory, I don't think I'd get very far. I'm not happy with that, but I know that practice is the only way to improve—and that means I actually have to sit down and do it.

One of the struggles I have is avoiding things I'm not immediately good at. When something doesn't click right away, I tend to put it off or build it up in my head as something really difficult. I know this mindset won't help me in the long run, so it's something I need to actively work on. Making time and really committing to practicing is hard, but I'm going to keep trying and pushing myself to improve.

SWOT reflection

At first, I didn't think making a SWOT about myself would be very helpful, but after writing down the things I was vaguely thinking, it actually made everything feel a bit less overwhelming. It helped me put things into perspective and made it clearer what I should focus on and what my goals are.

Blender

I still have a lot to learn in Blender, but I like the steps I've taken so far, slowly improving my skills. In the future, I will continue to work on these skills, and hopefully, I will be able to make really cool things in Blender one day.

Overall

This semester, I have gained confidence in various creative and technical tools, including Blender, DaVinci Resolve, and HTML/CSS. Additionally, through exercises like the SWOT analysis, I have become more self-aware and realized that my limitations are not fixed. With continued effort and focus, I am confident that I can keep improving in coding and collaboration. I am proud of the progress I have made so far.
