(Portfolio/personal)

Explanation

Both individually and in teams, you apply a relevant methodological approach used in the professional field to formulate project goals, involve stakeholders, conduct applied research, provide advice, make decisions, and deliver reports. In doing so, you keep in view the relevant ethical, intercultural, and sustainable aspects.

In this example of the learning outcome professional standard, I will be showing what I did for my portfolio.

Feedback moments

Image 1

In the image above, you can see the ratings of my feed pulses; they are all happy smileys, indicating that the teachers I asked for feedback thought I was doing well with my process.

I tried to ask for a lot of feedback on my portfolio. I also asked for feedback on different parts of my portfolio, from code to design to usability to documentation. This ensured that I had validation for all parts of my portfolio.

I also incorporated most of the feedback I received. For example, I asked for feedback on my code and was told that I should comment on my code more. So, this is what I did: I tried to give almost all of my code clear and explanatory comments.

Spelling & Professional Communication

Because I have severe dyslexia (diagnosed), spelling and reading can be a challenge for me, and I often make mistakes that are easy to overlook. To help myself in maintaining a professional standard in my writing, I use Grammarly — a tool that checks my spelling, grammar, and sentence structure in real time.

This program is incredibly helpful, especially when writing documentation. It ensures that my texts are clear, correct, and easy to understand, which is essential when communicating in a professional environment. In addition to improving the quality of my writing, Grammarly also helps me learn from my mistakes, allowing me to grow my language skills over time.

Another tool I use to improve my texts is ChatGPT. I often write a lot of text straight from the top of my head, which can sometimes be a bit chaotic or unclear. To make sure my writing is structured and easy to follow, I ask ChatGPT to help clean up and rephrase what I've written. After a new version is generated, I always read it over carefully and make changes where needed, especially in parts I don't fully agree with or want to adjust to sound more like myself. This extra step helps me improve the clarity and tone of my documentation even further.

By using these tools mindfully, I ensure that my work meets a professional standard while also supporting my own development and communication skills.

Reflection

Reflecting on the feedback aspect of this learning outcome, I believe I am performing well since I frequently seek and implement feedback, and my feedback ratings have been consistently positive so far.

Reflecting on my spelling and professional communication, I feel I'm doing well overall. However, one thing I've noticed with using ChatGPT is that sometimes I end up reading above my writing level. When ChatGPT uses more complex words or phrases, I tend to read over them, thinking it's fine, but if I had written it myself, I probably wouldn't have chosen those words specifically. This can make the text feel disconnected from my usual style. Moving forward, I plan to be more mindful of this and ensure the language stays consistent with my voice.
